Today at lunch I was sitting with my friend and we were just kind of chilling not doing anything important and one of the teachers asked us to come into his room and he wouldn’t take no for an answer. So we decided sure why not and went in sat down. The class was pretty full, and another teacher was in there, our schools photography teacher.
Both of these teachers are pretty macho, the one that invited us in is the schools wrestling coach.
Anyways, the teacher speaking was Rigby. He started off really funny, telling us how much high schoolers care about how they are seen and if we are seen as weird and how the ones who noticed that were weird are gonna love that about us. The conversation got a bit more serious when he started talking about a museum he had gone to for his photo class. He was telling us about the pictures this photographer had taken of a refugee camp and how poor the people were there and how dirty everything was. He told us that this photographer had been followed around by some kids in the area cause they were intrigued by this rich guy with this weird equipment so he told the kids he would take pictures of them.
This is when Rigby really started to break down, his voice had been cracking and he’d wipe his eyes every so often, but when he started talking about the kids he had to stop and give himself a second. He told us he was afraid to see the last part of the exhibit cause he could hardly see the adults in the refugee camp little alone the kids.
But the kids weren’t sad, they were smiling, one little boy hands on his hips with a big smile on his face. Despite this place they were living in, having that moment to have their pictures taken made them smile have them something to be happy about. Someone they would probably never see again had made them feel special.
What he wanted us to get out of what he said is that we should thank the people who make us feel special who have made us smile. It might be weird for you to say that to someone but for them they are usually glad to hear it.
I’m sorry if this text post was boring and took time out of your day but we all have someone in our life that has made us feel special. Someone that has been there for you when you really need someone. I have people like this in my life, some of the people that I don’t really talk to anymore cause were not on a talking basis or we’ve just moved away from each other but I’m thankful for them cause I know without them I wouldn’t be here today.
So if you’re reading this just remember to say thank you to these people in your life. Let them know that they have made a difference in your life
